*For the 2nd year in a row, RUBARB kids got a chance to see some short films at the New Orleans Kids Film Festival! They watched various animations and got to enjoy the beautiful CAC (Contemporary Arts Center)
*RUBARB's 1st ever Welding Workshop! RUBARB volunteers were introduced to welding by Rachel David, a friend and amazing blacksmith. She showed us techniques and we created our own little sculpture. Thanks to Rachel for sharing her incredible skills.
*RUBARB took it's ANNUAL BEACH FIELD TRIP to Waveland, MS! 24 people (6 adults, 18 youth!) drove to the beach for a day of swimming, frolicking, fishing, and getting caught in the rain... Everyone had an incredible time and wished we could stay longer. Another successful beach field trip!
*RUBARB hosted a "ladies night" at the shop... participants learned basic bike mechanics and got to hang out with fellow lady riders. Thanks to Alisha and Anneka for running the workshop! A new group, New Orleans Women on Bikes, has formed to promote and encourage such activities. check it out
*DREAMTIME CIRCUS, a travelling group of performers from the Bay are, came to RUBARB and turned the corner of Piety & Tonti into a circus wonderland! they juggled, did acrobatics and aerial acts, spun and ate fire, and entertained the 9th ward masses! we had an amazing time, and will never forget the magic they brought. see some photos HERE
*a RUBARB crew attended yet another ZEPHYR's game-- we must be good luck, b/c they won once again! plus we saw fireworks, such an added bonus!
